Part 2
A rustic land of wine lakes and candy harvests, reached only after Mr. Grey and Honeydew’s train derails and a giant hurls the passengers apart. Reunited with help from a loyal, mallet-wielding stranger named Tom, Mr. Grey chases word of a vanished colleague through fiddle lessons, humiliating contests, and small-time gigs, all while learning what it means to loosen up. Whimsical fairy-tale absurdity plays out over real melancholy about progress and friendship, building to a grand concert and a departure no one sees coming.
Chapter 1 - The Marble Box
After their marble train derails into a strange canyon, Mr. Grey and Honeydew must survive a giant's brutal method of sorting stranded passengers, and negotiate for the one thing they want most: to land together.
Chapter 2 - Fork Road
Soaked and separated from Honeydew, Mr. Grey stumbles alone through Wine Medo's wine-soaked hills, only to be robbed by road bandits and rescued by a mallet-wielding stranger who introduces himself, loudly, as Tom.
Chapter 3 - Toscamo
Reunited in Wine Medo's capital, Mr. Grey, Honeydew, and Tom navigate a bureaucracy-light embassy, learn Jodee Coats has already reshaped local farming, and weigh a risky plan involving a fiddle contest and a reclusive teacher.
Chapter 4 - Lily Hoppers
Mr. Grey and Tom leave the road behind to reach the well witch, crossing a treacherous marsh and a floating lily field pursued by vicious one-legged birds neither of them expected to survive.
Chapter 5 - Bucketrider
Mr. Grey and Tom descend by bucket into the depths of an ancient, sacred well, passing shelves of abandoned memories and an unnerving, unexplained sound that tests both men's nerve in the dark.
Chapter 6 - Witch Lessons
At the bottom of the Oh Well, Mr. Grey and Tom meet the eyeless well witch Nesting-Inside-Pots, who must be convinced that Mr. Grey's need to relearn the fiddle is more than simple greed.
Chapter 7 - Honeydew
While Mr. Grey trains under Pots, Honeydew searches Toscamo for work of her own, stumbling from failed interviews into an unlikely teaching post, and uncovers a lead on Jodee Coats's whereabouts.
Chapter 8 - Concerto
Mr. Grey enters his first Wine Medo fiddle contest, only to be publicly humiliated by the imperious Lord Blushing-in-the-Snow, forcing the group to look for smaller, less glamorous ways to earn their passage onward.
Chapter 9 - Wine Do
Hired to play at an elderly household's traditional Wine Do ceremony, Mr. Grey trades stories under the stars with his hosts, only to realize the meager pay won't come close to funding the trip to Glory Days.
Chapter 10 - Winestorming
A raging storm sets their rented house adrift just as Heavy-Shining-Gourd's bandits crash through the walls, and after the fight leaves them robbed once more, Mr. Grey slips away alone to make a decision of his own.
Chapter 11 - The Floating City
Drifting through Toscamo's flooded streets, Mr. Grey hitches a ride on a giant talking strider alongside Ms. Maysey, and turns over an uncomfortable question about whether Jodee Coats's changes have made Wine Medo better or worse.
Chapter 12 - Uglywood
Making camp in the deceptively ordinary Uglywood forest, Mr. Grey and Tom are dragged toward a nightmare of stretched, moaning faces, and rescued only by soldiers who reveal their lord is under a strange curse.
Chapter 13 - Moon Over the Desolate Castle
Sneaking into a castle gripped by a curse of forced, joyless revelry, Mr. Grey must resist temptation where Tom cannot, and confront the mysterious Toymaker responsible with nothing but a borrowed pillow.
Chapter 14 - The Folkpole
Lord Pygmy-Footed-Snake agrees to fund Mr. Grey's contest entry, but only after a solitary trial at a mountain shrine, where a talking boot forces him to rethink what 'grand enchanting' actually requires.
Chapter 15 - Windmill
With bandits closing in on their boat, Mr. Grey hatches an audacious plan to fly Lord Snake's entire windmill across the country with The Wind's help, dodging a mid-air assault of angry birds along the way.
Chapter 16 - Grand Enchanting
At last standing before the grand concert crowd, Mr. Grey faces down Gourd one final time, delivers the performance of his life, and learns just how far Honeydew was willing to bend the rules to get them to Glory Days.
Chapter 17 - Vessel
As Mr. Grey, Honeydew, and Tom say their goodbyes to Wine Medo and board the ship bound for Glory Days, their journey takes an abrupt and colossal turn no one could have anticipated.
